Overview:
In determining if products are truly green there are many factors to consider. In order to assure our customers that they are buying the best products available, we take into consideration ten different selection criteria when selecting our products. Depending upon the type of product, some criteria are more important than others and some criteria is only applicable to specific types of products.

3R Green Building Solutions strives to provide the greenest, highest quality products available. When selecting products to provide our customers we make sure that the products we carry conform to the highest standards. Each product is evaluated individually and compared to other similar items to ensure that we exceed our customer's expectations when buying our products.

Below are the ten criteria in which we consider
when choosing our products:

Content Impact:
The content of which each product is comprised of can have a profound impact on the environment. We try to ensure that our products are made from the highest percentage of recycled materials or materials that are comprised of renewable materials.

Recycling Capability:
Being able to recycle a product at the end of its life is very important to our environment. We select products that are easily recyclable or reusable at the end of its useful life. Some products are not yet recyclable so it is up to the consumer to reuse items for other purposes whenever possible.

Energy Conservation:
The amount of energy that each product uses is important in determining how green the product really is. There are varying levels of energy conservation for different products. We select products that will reduce the maximum amount of total energy use during its useful life. 

Manufacturing Impact:
The way in which each product is manufactured has many different impacts on the environment. In making truly green products, the manufactures should reduce waste products that are a result of making the products, as well as the total amount of pollution contribution to the environment. We only work with manufactures that use strict environmental policies when producing each product.

Life Cycle/Durable Impact:
The useful life of each product plays an important role in determining if the product is green. A long useful life of a product ensures that replacement of the product is kept to a minimum, ensuring that the total amount of materials and energy is consumed is reduced overall.

Water Conservation:
The amount of water conservation can vary with each individual product. We select these types of products by evaluating which items conserve the most water and still work effectively for our customers.

Sourcing Products Locally:
The location in which we source our products can have a profound effect on the environment. If there is any way for us to get our products locally we do so. This helps keep the amount of carbon down that is associated with each of our products. If we cannot source our products locally we pay for carbon offsets through Carbon Fund in order to offset the carbon that is emitted from the transportation of the products.

Social Impact:
Products should contribute to an overall higher, healthier quality of life for our customers as well as the people producing the products. This includes not only the materials each product consists of, but also the impact of fair wages and humane treatment of the workers. It also takes into account the over all benefit on our customer's quality of life. Sometimes it is what the green products are NOT made of, such as harmful chemicals or toxins.

Air Quality:
The air quality that can be associated with various products is very important for both health and comfort. It is important for sealants, paints, finishes, and other type products to contain low or no VOC's in order to ensure these products do not pollute the environment in which they are applied. Another important element is to incorporate a system that help clean the air of natural pollutants such as dander, pollen, and other airborne irritants.

Affordable:
Green products should not be more expensive as their counterparts. This is due to the fact that many green products pay for themselves over a reasonable amount of time. This is very important for our customers and so we make it a priority to ensure we select products that have low payback time frames.
